For the 17th year, National Bank of Arizona® has been recognized by Ranking Arizona as Arizona’s No. 1 Bank. Though it’s an incredible honor that we’re proud to receive, we’re most proud of what that honor represents: our commitment and dedication to not just being a great bank, but to also being active members of the community who work hard to make Arizona a place we’re proud to call home.

An Emphasis on Community

Since our beginnings in 1984, our mission has been to build local relationships within our communities and deliver exceptional customer service. Because ultimately, we believe being a member of a community comes with a responsibility to do our part and make that community a better place – whether that’s through supporting local businesses or helping individuals achieve their goals.

In reality, we’re just doing what we think good neighbors should do, and that’s what anchors everything we do across Arizona. Take, for example, the story of Wes Neal and Kyle George, owners of Bright Angel Bicycles in Flagstaff, who we helped secure a 10-year contract with the National Park Service and grow from a small mom-and-pop bike rental company with a staff of 5 to Grand Canyon National Park’s first in-park bike rental facility.

“We had meetings with three other banks because we wanted to make sure we found the right fit,” Neal said. Unfortunately, those first meetings didn’t get them any closer to realizing their dream – until they spoke with NB|AZ.

“National Bank of Arizona was the only one who really took us seriously,” Neal said. “The team at the Flagstaff branch were right there with us and the rest is history.”

Giving Back and Helping Others Do the Same

It isn’t just our company that are committed to helping our communities – it’s all of our associates who work in those branches. Last year alone, NB|AZ employees gave back over 10,000 hours of their personal time to their communities through volunteering at 225 nonprofits across the state.

“Our associates are some of the most compassionate and giving people I know,” said Mark Young, president and CEO of National Bank of Arizona.  “I am never surprised to hear stories of their generous spirit to get involved in the community and give their time, talent and heart to make a difference across the state."

And while our associates are committed to volunteering and giving to nonprofit organizations, we take things a step further by being the only bank in Arizona who specialize in nonprofit banking. This has allowed us to work with local nonprofits like A 2nd Act, an organization dedicated to giving cancer survivors a place to tell their story, or HustlePHX, a nonprofit focused on counseling and promoting entrepreneurs who may be outside the mainstream lines of support.

We’re Here to Serve

At the end of the day, being voted Arizona’s No. 1 Bank for the 17th year isn’t just about the award itself – it’s a testament to the strength of being an active community member and to building relationships and honoring them.

Whatever your financial journey may be – whether you’re simply looking to open your first checking account or you’re the leader of a large corporation – we’d be honored to take that journey with you.
